ACNE: Week 7 Update..YAZ causing depression

Update on experiences using retin-a, tetracycline, and Yaz to treat acne. Yaz is causing me to be depressed, a side affect that I had not known prior to taking it.

Don’t take Yaz. Several hours after I put the first one in my mouth my legs were in pain with a pins and needles feeling and a feeling like my veins were blowing open. It took over 6 months before the pins and needles (more like darts and arrows) feeling left and now I have terrible enlarged veins. My legs feel like they are shredding every day. I could never fit all the symptoms it has given me on this. But not just me! Sixteen year-olds are getting their gall bladders removed who took Yaz.

u are a beautifull girl, stop using those heavy acne treatments, it will make ur skin thin and u can get severe depression and make the scaring worse because the skin gets thinner. trust me……i know from experience. it will go away in time, just dont pick ur skin…….

I’ve only been on Yaz for a week and a half, but I don’t feel depressed. I’m emotional, but not depressed.

it happened the same to me, the worst depression i have ever felt…I’ve being using YAz for 3 months now and my skin looks way better but im risking my life a lot and so do you do, so I stop for this month by taking the pills and lets see how it goes….i hope you get better even though your skin from my point of view looks good ;)

Murad Post-Acne Spot Lightening Gel…AMAZING!!!! Much cheaper to buy from Amazon…than from Murad or Sephora….

Glad your skin is doing better. :- ) Are you currently taking tetracycline, along with the Yaz and the Retin-A? How long were you on or do you plan to be on Tetracycline?

  13. LADYGUTTA305 says:

try hydroquinone for the scarin. it works well

  14. Jenabeebee says:

@bday185 no it didn’t come back even when i was only just using retin-a. the anti-biotics and yaz pretty much settled it and the retin-a i just used to maintain it..it was fine without the pills.

  15. bday185 says:

Do you mean that your acne get back even with retin A? I just don’t want to try another cycle with antibiotic (mine is doxycycline)
My docter prescribed me Doxycycline and tell me to put Retin A after 1 month to maintain clear skin. Doxycycline work for me after a week (side effect too).

  16. Jenabeebee says:

@loveingeverything yea ive heard retin-a is supposed to be good to heal scarring..

  17. Jenabeebee says:

@bday185 thats fine i think i went off the pills and just used retin-a for awhile until i started up a different routine.. as in medicine do you mean like anti-acne pills?

  18. bday185 says:

What happen if you stop taking medicine and only Retin A. My doctor give me retin A to maintain my skin after the course. I haven’t tried it yet because i’m still on medicine.

  19. loveingeverything says:

Hey, I am using retin a along with the medication. It wasn’t working for me for a while because it was making my skin really dry so I would stopped using it. But I started to stick to it consistenly and with in a few weeks my skin cleared up. Just like you I had scares left over…so it still looked like I had pimples. But just stick to the retin a it helps with scarring and they will slowly fade away. Well atleast thats what happened to my scares. Hopefully this helps!

@ChellChronic same thing happened to me! its like one day my face is completely clear and the next all hell breaks loose! but don’t lose hope..I mean it definately takes time (even though 3 months is a while) but even if those things don’t work out for you there are plenty of other options… not everything works out for everybody. but even though the road seems hard you need to just keep telling yourself things will get better because it really will. it just takes time unfortunatley.

  21. ChellChronic says:

Acne is wayyy depressing. I used to never have it, then I started getting a few pimples here and there, and then full-fledged pizza face. :(
I’ve been taking minocycline pills and using two different gels for about 2 or 3 months…it’s gotten worse but I suppose it’s improved a bit as well. I’m starting to lose hope.

  22. Jenabeebee says:

@jburckhardt im sorry if its making you too depressed like it made me I would get off of it but if its not definatley hang in there and try to be patient yaz does work really good to help acne its only a matter of time..just be hopeful and know things will get better

  23. jburckhardt says:

yeah i had the same symptom..it was horrible the way I felt…. for two weeks consequitives…i havent get any good results :( my skin still the same and looks kind of worse very reddich :( i dont know what else to do about it …im in the second month taking those pills but it worries me pretty much that has a high potasium and with the time can appear some brown spots because of the potassium (sorry about my english) ..sad about the results :(
