Would vinegar help with acne?
Question by Breakdown-the-Breakdown: Would vinegar help with acne?
I’m trying my own little experiment at home…
Water, salt, some lemon juice..
I was wondering if vinegar would help…
Oh, and if someone has any other acne “at home” remedies (not complicated ones though!) please share.
Thanks in adnvance,
I have oily & dry skin, btw.
So.. my oil-ness could combat the strength of the products? ;s
I already have tea tree oil from Burt’s Bees and the Body Shop.
I usually use Spectro Jel daily..
Twice a week I use the tree oil clenser.
I use Oxy Pads whenever my face feels oily.
and… I have a thing from the doctor to put on oncoming zits (:

You don’t want to overdo it. Your acne could be very sensitive and putting vinegars and strong things like that could dry out the face and cause more acne

um, i dont think so, but try googling it before doing anything bad.
I use vinegar to get rid of planters warts so I would guess if it’s strong enough to get rid of those then it would be too harsh for acne that is on your face. I use baking soda in facial cream for blackheads and my occasional spots.
im not too sure if vinegar would help.. make sure to ask a professional before doing something like that just in case it can make your skin worse!
i was at the doctors today, and in a pamphlet, i read that: Green tea, Dark chocolate (non-dairy), peanuts help to reduce acne!
and an at home remedy that someone told me about was putting oatmeal on your face to reduce redness!
goodluck!!
Tea tree oil will..please research the benefits of it and see for yourself..I love this stuff
Oh no don’t do that sweetheart. It’s over kill and you will tear your skin apart.
Try this instead. You can all these ingredients at your local grocery store.
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/4 cup almonds
1/4 cup (plain organic) yogurt
Juice from 1/2 lemon
4 uncoated aspirin tablets
2 teaspoons honey
Here’s what you do:
1. In a food processor or blender, grind the oatmeal and almonds together until they get powdery. (You don’t want the almonds to have sharp pieces)
2. Separate the lemon juice from the lemon and the seeds by juicing it first into a container
3. Add the lemon juice to the ground up oatmeal and almonds.
4. Drip a little water onto the aspirin and break up into a fine powder.
5. Add the yogurt to the lemon, honey, almonds, aspirin and oatmeal.
6. Blend all of them together.
7. GENTLY apply to your skin, if you notice any burning stop and wash off the mixture.
Be sure to be gentle and in a circular motion massage the skin for 30 seconds to 1 minute. When you have finished wash it off and apply a moisturizer if needed.
Use this no more than three times a week.
Also, every night before bad spot treat your acne by dipping a Q-tip in a little bit of rubbing alcohol. Then dab the Q-tip onto your pimple(s)
Every morning wash your face as you usually would and use a non-comedongenic moisturizer. I like Aveeno but you can use whatever you like.
edit:
I have dry and oily skin as well and I’ve used the above treatments for years now with MUCH success. My skin is now soft and smooth and I frequently get compliments on it.
Vinegar sounds painful. Although, I just found this.
“It can kill off acne causing bacteria, balance your skin’s pH, and absorb extra oil on your skin.”
I’d be too scared to try it. I hope your skin is really tough and strong. If you have sensitive skin, I wouldn’t try it.
I dissolve UNCOATED Aspirin with my remedies. It has salicylic acid in it.
I’ve never heard of anyone using salt in these remedies. I use sugar, it’s a good scrub.
Add some honey too, it’s a good healing agent.
No do not use vinegar. It is very irritating if used several times and completely throws out the pH balance of the skin. If straight tea tree oil is not working try some that has been mixed into a cream You can do this yourself by stirring in about 5% of tea tree oil into a light cream or buy a product like Sanctum Organic On the Spot.
The pH of the skin is around 5. pH of vinegar is around 2.5. This makes it 1000 times stronger acid than the skin is used to.

So basically that link has a list of at home products (like lemon juice and tooth paste) that help get rid of/reduce the visability of acne. Anyways it apprears that vinegar is safe to use in small amounts as long as it’s diluted with something like water. Here’s another link to help people with oily skin. Also I think you are using too many chemicals on your skin m’dear. Ease up on the products and try natural remedies if you like. It’s better for your skin. P.s. Miss Burzynski I think you actually need to have acne to use these remedies.
