what are the chances that i’ll be hospitalized for anorexia?

i know i already posted a question like this but i didn’t really get enough answers. i have an appointment this week & i know my doctor’s going to diagnose me with anorexia. there’s no way avoiding it so i’ll do what he tells me to do. i’m not very severe yet, but i will be if i don’t get help soon. but i don’t know if he’ll just send me home or actually make me go to a hospital… if not, what kind of treatment would i get?

Well if its as bad as it sounds, you’ll be off to a hospital, in a few days, or maybe a few days after your appointment, its for your best. But if you started dealing with this already, maybe he’ll think you’re independant enough…

well the fact that you are seeking help is a very good thing…if it is your first visit for this then he is more than likely going to put you on some kind of protein diet and send you on your way…but if he finds your case to be serious or advanced then he will send you to a rehab center…they will help you psychologically and help you make the right decisions diet wise .you will be monitored 24/7

Its sounds like you got a prob, an you know it and want everyone else to know it. Stop being all weird about it, you seen enough talk shows, hes gonna ask you whats making you sad, your gonna tell him and cry. And then he’ll teach you how to eat again, you’ll take baby steps. Or you can just order a large pie and some wings, and go for it. Yumm. Dont make life harder then it has to be, food is goood. Eat find something else to do with yourself, life write sad songs maybe you can make lots of money, and everyone will know your sad

there is outpatient and inpatient treatment. each would consist of therapy sessions and dietary consultations. inpatient would be more intensive where they have more therapy/group sessions. your doctor and you will decide what’s best depending on your needs and severity of anorexia. he should monitor your labs especially electrolytes, cbc-complete blood count, and albumin-which can help determine protein levels for malnutrition etc. they will monitor your vital signs- heart rate, blood pressure etc, and probably your weight. i’m not sure if it would be a daily or weekly weigh in though. good luck to you. it’s good that you are getting help now before it’s too late.

Well done for being brave enough to see your doctor and admit a problem. You have it tough right now, and getting better will be tough too, but you really have already won the worst battle by accepting that you have a problem and wanting to get better. Hang in there. As for treatment, it depends on your doctor and local facilities, as well as how old you are and how seriously ill. If you want help and are not too severe, you will very likely be able to work on a supervised recovery programme at home. If you live with family who can support you, even more likely. It is unlikely that you would be admitted to hospital/speicalist unit against your will if you are an adult, but if you think that going in would be the best option for you then discuss with your doctor (and, very probably, the specialist he would refer you to) and push for what you want. Be as honest as you can about your situation and symptoms. If you think you are not being taken seriously enough, ask for a second opinion or referral to a specialist or suitably qualified health worker. Good luck with your recovery.
