My view on anorexia is that it’s a mental disorder closely related to body dysmorphic disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder.

Misconceptions are that anorexia means someone that is very underweight or very skinny, i.e. calling an underweight person anorexic or assuming a normal weight person cannot be suffering with anorexia.

I think the media can trigger off eating disorders (but not cause them) in susceptable people.

i really dont have a side to it i personally think its a very bad thing but i cant say anything to those girls because i am skinny and they will take it even worse because the way they look at themselves and the way we look at them its very different. i dont think if the media showed all these stars doing it it would help

A lot of people think that a woman/man is able to control this eating disorder on their own, that it’s just will power. That is far from true, this is a disease like any other that needs to be treated by a professional.

People almost always associate anorexia with a dislike of one’s body image but more often the patient has a serious hatred for their whole personality and the eating disorder is a manifestation of this. They are extremely well disciplined and are often very determined to do well in various things. It’s not just a body image problem but that is how the self hatred manifests itself most, probably because the most common way people judge each other is on how they look.b
