Can you have Pregnancy induced hypertension if you bp is good?
I am almost 25 weeks and have been going to the drs weekly since 19 weeks due to high blood pressure at 19 weeks. Since 19 weeks though my bp has been great. (today it was 120/78). Today she told me I was measuring big (yikes I gained 3 pounds this week but I had mild swelling in my feet) and she is having me get an ultra sound done and sent me over for blood work also. On the paper that I have to give the labs it said "measuring big for date" and "Pregnancy induced Hypertension".
I guess I thought PIH was if you had high blood pressure? And is me measuring big a sign of PIH? Everything I read on the internet doesn’t mention measuring big as PIH.
I had perfect blood pressure before I was pregnant. Now, I have high blood pressure. With my first, I measured big. I was told then that it is a sign of high blood pressure. I went pre-eclamptic at 37 1/2 weeks and was induced. My daughter was extremely healthy. I think what they mean is that it is a sign of later things to possible come. Just be glad they are watching you and dont stress. If things weren’t ok, they would be doing a lot more. Like putting you on bedrest or meds. Good luck!

Well hypertension is high blood pressure… or at least I thought it was. Maybe its coz you did have high bp that they keep it on your records in case it happens again.
Although maybe the swelling on its own is enough for it to be PIH!
Blood Pressure is a transient measurement- meaning it changes continually. You can have a normal BP one visit and high the next. Pregnancy is no time to ignore any incident of high blood pressure as the risk to you and especially the baby is great. They are just being cautious and evaluating you for other signs of PIH through the labs. dont worry, but dont assume it is gone- that may not be the case.
I measured large as well all through my pregnancy, but it was because I had a huge baby, when I went in to have my daughter my belly was 52 cm. I don’t think the two are related. I’m not sure of the blood pressure, maybe because it was high before they still consider you that way, don’t worry i’m sure everything is ok. Take it easy.
YEP!!! My bood pressure was GREAT up until the 38th week and then it got real high. I ended up delivering by c section. Its a serious condition so dont take it lightly.
