1.  Cut back on the salt.  It&#039;s terribly hard to go cold turkey on salt but lower the amount you use gradually and the change will be much easier to deal with.  Watch for hidden sodium - read labels.  A diet soda has more sodium in it than a small bag of potato chips!

2.  Drink more water.  Plain, old water.

3.  Exercise.  A 1/2 hour walk a day will help.  Not only helps you relax but will help with #4.

4.  Lose weight if you need to.  The extra weight makes it harder for the blood to circulate and adds a number of other risk factors.  Even a modest 15-20 lb weight loss might be enough to get your numbers where they should be.  Just make better food choices.  Eat more fresh fruit, veggies and whole grains.

5.  Consider taking supplements and a good strong multi-vitamin.  Supplements to take are potassium, magnesium and calcium.  These three have the biggest influence on blood pressure.</description>
