What are my chances of getting hypertension?

Ok well I just talking about it with my grandpa and he has high blood pressure and so did his mom. My uncle just recently found out he had it when he went to donate blood and my mother has it but my grandpas is by far the worst in the family he’s the only one who takes medication for it. So I was just wondering what are the chances that I will get it when im older and how i can’t prevent myself from getting it?

  1. Dr Frank says:

Hypertension is almost certainly due to cumulative lifestyle issues more than inheritance.

If you wish to minimise your risks, ensure that you are no more than your ideal weight,do regular vigorous CV exercise, ideally no less than 30 minutes of exercise that brings your heart rate to 85% of your age maximum (220-Age in years) 5 times a week, and reduce your intake of salt.

You have a higher risk of high blood pressure if you have a family history of the disease. Change lifestyle. Reduce fat and oils in your diet.
